Upland is an independent design studio creating identities, visual worlds and communication for organisations, companies and culture.
I work closely with clients from the first conversation and creative direction through to design and implementation.
Upland is run by me, Janus Mikkel Jørnaa. Staying small means staying close to the work — bringing in trusted specialists when a project calls for it.

Strong ideas can travel — from a logo to a campaign, from a screen to a sign, from a report to a physical space.
The aim is to create a visual direction that can adapt, evolve and still feel unmistakably itself.
What I do
I work across visual identity, communication and digital design — from identities shaped through typography, colour, imagery and motion to campaigns, publications, reports and data visualisation. The work extends into digital experiences, wayfinding, signage and physical spaces, creating visual expressions that stay clear and recognisable wherever they appear.
