Words that hit home. Børns Vilkår is one of Denmark’s leading children’s rights organisations. The Stop Violence campaign aimed to raise awareness of children experiencing violence and abuse – and reach the people who can make a difference.

The campaign design needed to confront a difficult subject without overdramatising it. Every child featured in the campaign was AI-generated, ensuring that no real children had to participate in material about violence.

The result is a clear and direct visual language with people at its centre – brought to life across digital platforms and printed formats to create awareness and encourage action.

An image can do what words cannot
Violence against children is something most people know exists – yet rarely see. The challenge was not simply to inform, but to make people feel it.

The portraits are at the heart of the campaign. Close up. Direct eye contact. A name. A sentence that sounds like something a child might have been told.

AI made it possible to create this sense of presence without asking real children to take part in a process that could itself be distressing. It was not a technical shortcut, but an ethical choice in a difficult assignment.

Everything else – typography, format and medium – was designed to stay out of the way and leave space around the face looking directly back at you.
